| Description |
This construction is intended to be a companion to an
edelan 6061 clavichord. As a
wall treatment, along with the instrument itself, provides a very attractive
room setting/arrangement. The piece
itself is made
of aluminum, acrylic, aluminum shavings/particles, with an actual 61-note
keyboard as part of the work. The towers rising from the keyboard represent graphically the notes
rising tonally from the instrument. The piece was constructed with a hardboard backing, covered
with aluminum sheathing. The
“notes” coming from the keyboard are made with acrylic and aluminum pieces which
were the recovered from the materials left over from construction of the instrument.
The work itself is framed with standard construction aluminum.
This combination of design elements unites this piece directly with the
clavichord. The keyboard
itself was purchased from Charles Wolff,
a builder of clavichords and other historical instruments. |
